Hampi - Badami - Aiholle

 

Virupaksha Temple

This temple dates back to the 7th century and is dedicated to Lord Shiva (Virupaksha)


 Vijaya Vittala Temple (Vittala Temple) . 

 One of the most remarkable ruins in Hampi: famous for the stone chariot and “musical pillars”. 


 Lotus Mahal in the Queen’s/Zanana Enclosure

 This was historically the busy marketplace during the Vijayanagara Empire era; today you’ll see the ruins of pavilions and a lively atmosphere. 


 

Badami Cave Temples

 These are rock-cut cave temples carved into red-sandstone cliffs, dating mostly from the 6th to 8th centuries.  They showcase the early work of the Chalukya dynasty and blend Dravidian and Nagara architectural styles. 


 Badami Fort & hill-top temples 

 The fort complex sits on the hilltops above the town, offering panoramic views over Badami, the lake and surrounding valley. 


 Bhutanatha Temples (Bhūthanātha group) 

 Located by the shores of Agastya Lake, these temples (dedicated to Shiva, etc) are historically important and photogenic.  


 Badami Archaeological Museum 

 The museum houses sculptures, inscriptions and artefacts from the region dating from the 6th to 16th century 


 Durga Temple, Aihole 

 This is the most iconic structure in Aihole: built in late 7th to early 8th century by the Chalukya dynasty. 


 Lad Khan Temple 

 One of the oldest structural temples in Aihole (5th-6th century) according to some scholars.  Simple layout but historically significant: rectangular then square plan, large hall of pillars, shows the early experiments in temple architecture.  


 Ravana Phadi Cave Temple 

 A rock-cut cave temple dating to around the 6th century, dedicated to Lord Shiva, featuring superb carved panels like Shiva dance, Saptamatrikas, Varaha, etc.  


  Meguti Jain Temple 

 Built in 634 CE by minister Ravikeerthi of Pulakeshin II — the only correctly dated monument of Aihole. 


Kodaikanal - Munnar - Thekkady - Madurai - Rameswaram

 Kodaikanal — often called the “Princess of Hill Stations” — is a beautiful hill town in Tamil Nadu, known for its misty hills, waterfalls, and serene lakes . 


  • Kodaikanal Lake – A star-shaped, man-made lake at the heart of the town; you can go boating, cycling, or simply walk around it. 

  • Coaker’s Walk – A scenic pedestrian path offering panoramic views of the valleys and plains.
     
  • Bryant Park – A well-maintained botanical garden near the lake, famous for its colorful flowers and annual flower show.
     
  • Pine Forest – A picturesque forest area perfect for photography and leisurely walks.
     
  • Pillar Rocks – Three massive granite boulders standing 400 feet high; a popular viewpoint.

 

  • Kurunji Andavar Temple – Dedicated to Lord Murugan; offers panoramic views and famous for the blooming Kurinji flowers (once every 12 years).
     
  • La Salette Church – A 150-year-old church blending French and Tamil architecture.


Munnar:   Top Station :   

  • A protected area near Munnar, home to the endangered Nilgiri tahr and set in the high ranges of the Western Ghats.  
  • Great for nature-lovers and for taking in high-altitude vistas.
  •  One of the highest vantage points around Munnar (around 1,700 m above sea level) offering sweeping views of tea-covered hills and valleys. 

       

Mattupetty Dam :  Situated about 10 km from Munnar, the dam and its lake are surrounded by lush hills. Boating is available.  

       Pothamedu Viewpoint :  This viewpoint offers the classic “tea-plantation carpet” view: tea + coffee + spice plantations stretching over rolling hills 


Thekkady:  Periyar Wild Life Sanctuary:

                          

  • A protected wildlife reserve near Thekkady covering about 777 sq km, of which ~360 sq km is dense evergreen forest.
     
  • You can experience a boat ride on the reservoir and often spot elephants, deer, birds,
